ABOUT

AZMTH is the work of Michael D. Harms.

For two decades I led where decisions carried consequences that couldn't be undone. I flew the AH-64 Apache, served as an Aviation Mission Survivability Officer, and retired a U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 — a career spent operating in the environments most leadership is only theorized about. When the stakes are real, you learn quickly which ideas hold and which ones don't.

I wanted to understand why. So I earned a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership — the study of how leaders actually decide when the cost of getting it wrong is measured in more than a quarter's numbers. Along the way I added an MA in Professional Writing, an ICF PCC coaching credential, and the assessment toolset the work demands: Hogan, EQ-i 2.0, CliftonStrengths, and Prosci change management.

AZMTH is where that experience becomes leadership training and development for the people carrying real weight — senior leaders, defense contractors, Alaska Native Corporations, and strategic organizations where the cost of poor leadership is steep. Every engagement runs on the proprietary Operate–Navigate–Communicate framework, forged in aviation and refined through doctoral research. Above it sits the theory I'm building in the open, Colligent Leadership: the idea that a leader's real work is to gather and bind the vital few capabilities each situation actually requires.

I keep AZMTH deliberately small. I measure results, not testimonials. And I don't take every client. If the work fits, let's talk.
